Set on the edge of Walthamstow Village, ten minutes walk from the central station, The Castle is a local, family friendly pub that has been thoughtfully redesigned to offer a warm, inviting atmosphere with a modern edge. In fine weather, our idyllic beer garden provides the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.
We take our position as Walthamstow’s first gastropub seriously. Our chefs work tirelessly to create freshly made, flavoursome dishes with real depth of character. All our ingredients are, where possible, organic and locally sourced, while all of our sauces and breads are made daily on site.
Our head chef James is, in the words of John Burton Race, “a superstar in the making”. Prior to joining us at The Castle, James worked with John for over six years, two of those as head chef achieving a Michelin Star at The New Angel in Devon. His passion for food is evident with every bite and he is always willing to discuss menus and any special dietary requirements with guests in advance if needed.
Every Sunday we offer a selection of delicious roasts, as well as a vegetarian option, available in both adult and children’s portions. As these have proved extremely popular, we would recommend booking in advance, particularly for large groups.
Our food is complemented by a first-rate selection of wines and champagnes supplied by leading London vintners Bibendum and which caters to all palates. We also offer a wide range of ales, lagers and speciality ciders, in addition to a fine assortment of spirits, liqueurs and digestifs.
Every Monday from 8.00pm there is a quiz night that has been described as “almost certainly the best in London” by no lesser authority than the quiz master himself, which offers great prizes and, more importantly, a really fun night out.
